With the MTN Trainer Lite Mid you can move faster and easier on any terrain, and it also offers optimal performance on rocks. Its highly durable, yet lightweight upper with TPU coating features suede inserts for better stability and is combined with a GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort inner lining for lasting waterproof performance without compromising on breathable comfort. The unique half-height boot strip construction is equipped with our patented 3F system that connects the shaft, sole and heel to ensure a comfortable, supportive and flexible fit. This is further supported by the shock absorbing EVA midsole for lasting rebound. The shoe is fitted with a flexible ankle shaft, heel stabiliser and rubber toe cap for extra stability and extra protection. It allows your foot unrestricted freedom of movement and at the same time optimal support. With climbing shoe lacing system up to the toe area, which can be precisely adjusted for greater precision on technical terrain. Under the foot, the outsole guarantees reliable grip thanks to the Pomoco rubber compound and the tread pattern with deep studs and notches, as well as the necessary versatility to be used for a variety of terrain types, from mud and grass to rock, ice and snow. The MTN Trainer Lite Mid for men is a lightweight, half-height mountain shoe for three seasons. It is suitable for technical hikes and long backpacks in all weather conditions.

Excellent buy! It arrived a few days earlier than expected and just in time to go try them in the mountains over the weekend, with only 2 days of use they adapted very well.
I used them for a 28 km walk (approximately 12 hours) on different types of terrain and they are very comfortable! They provide excellent support to the ankle and heel, they are light and aesthetically they look incredible! The sole has very good traction on wet grass, wet dirt, stone and snow, not so much on mud and not at all on ice (but I think none really).
As for the size, if they come tight, I normally order 6.5 mex in footwear of this type and they fit looser… With not very thick socks they fit without a problem, for very cold climates I would not recommend them but otherwise they are EXCELLENT! BOOTS!

So far I’ve only had hiking boots from Salewa because I’m always impressed by the value for money. What was important to me was a robust but still light, medium-high shoe for normal use. The Mountain Trainer Lite turned out to be the perfect decision for me after I first tried it. Fits perfectly, is pleasantly light and at some point you won’t even notice it anymore. Offers enough support, sure-footedness and is waterproof. Ideal for daily walks with the dog or normal mountain tours. At the asking price of just over 100 euros, I would buy the shoe again in a heartbeat.

Salewa is a very renowned brand from Italy’s mountain boot making region of Tirol (Messner is from there). This is my first hiking boots from them. I have worn several other brands in the past. This boot fits well straight out of the box. The boot looks narrow but my slightly wider foot fitted perfectly. The sole of the boot is from a brand called Pomoca and not Vibram. Pomoca is Salewa’s group company. The soles felt very grippy with good traction. But I must admit I have yet to test them on rough mountain trails. I have only walked in them on concrete pavement and asphalt. In Calcutta the boot feels a little warm but that’s because they have Goretex lining. I am fine with that slightly warmer feeling. I am used to Goretex lined boots. They are absolutely water proof in rain. It has only half rand in the front but that’s fine for the kind of use I will have. These boots are certainly more expensive than the usual brands popular in India. But these are high quality Italian boots (made in Vietnam) with some top features and justify the price. In fact within the Salewa range this is on the cheaper side. I can pass a final judgement only after seeing how long they last. For boots to last long one pre-requisite is one has to wear them regularly. So even if one goes to the mountains once in a while, one must use them regularly even about town.
