I did a lot of research before deciding on the Terra. I wanted a manual sodastream so I could take it camping with me and not need electricity to operate it. I also wanted completed control over my bubbles. I looked for a model that could be modified to accommodate a 5lb Co2 bottle. The TERRA ticked all my boxes. As soon as it arrived I put the starter kit to work with the included 60L co2 cannister. In couple of minutes we were drinking the bubbly-ist, sparkling water EVER!! The 60L cannister is not going to last us long, so we will set up the 5lb bottle with the quick connect adapter hose, purchased here on Amz, as soon as we run out of the smaller (more expensive) cannister. Refilling the 5lb tank will cost around $30 in my neck of the woods. We found a brewing supplier who swaps out tanks, so will have to forego the new tank I’ve bought to acquire Co2 when we need it. I couldn’t find anywhere in town that would use my tank and refill, swap outs only, like propane tanks. So with the Terra, hose, tank and additional bottles we are in it for around $200. After doing my calculations based in the amount our household drinks, we’ll break even in 6 weeks at 30cents/Litre. Keeping in mind all my purchases were made during Prime Day, I saved on average 35% overall. I’m looking forward to only making one trip to get Co2, rather than multiple trips to the store to get flavored sparkling water. We’ll also be producing less waste, and that’s always a bonus.

I’ve wanted one of these machines FOREVER and just got one with the Amazon Prime Day deals. It was on a super great deal so I splurged 😉 I really love sparkling water, I drink it so much better than I do regular water. I find it more refreshing, especially if I add a little flavoring. This works so conveniently and easily, it’s really fantastic how basic but how well it works. However, I don’t know how the company got connected with the bubly drop flavoring? Maybe they make it? Anyway it’s TERRIBLE. So, don’t go to any extra cost to get more. Go with something else for flavor like Crystal Light or the drops you can buy at the grocery store. I couldn’t even drink the water with the bubly drop in it. So gross.

I had been buying sparkling water, usually lime or lemon flavored, as my main carbonated drink. That’s not super expensive vs. soda costs, so I didn’t really think about a SodaStream until I visited my in-laws and they had this model and loved it entirely for making sparkling water. I splurged and bought one. The SodaStream Terra has replaced that and is better. Because of the method of carbonating by button push, I can do variable carbonation levels. It’s easy to vary the level of flavor using either fruit (I bought a bag of limes), the drops, or no flavoring at all. I have not had to exchange my carbonation cartridge, but they have a process to do exchange so the old tube doesn’t go into a landfill. It’ll take a while, but it will pay for itself and it keeps me from drinking soda so it’s 5/5 in my book.

I really like it. You pop the cartridge in, you put your filled bottle up into it, push it back, and then push the button however many times you want depending on how bubbly you want it. I found that the flavorings are okay. But I like just straight up seltzer water by it by itself. Especially when you can get it really bubbly. The internet says that you can reuse your cartridge. But I haven’t found any place near me to do that. So that means that when I do finally run out I’m going to have to ship it off. It seems to me, to be more expensive than I had hoped. I should be able to have one bottle of water everyday for 60 days. According to the instructions. My suggestion is to use prefiltered, pre-chilled water. It’s not messy at all, it’s really easy actually.

I can’t help but think of the money I would have saved hadI bought this a long time ago. It’s amazing! I love Diet Dr Pepper. The Diet Dr Pete tastes almost exactly the same, maybe a little more vanilla which I like. At up to $2.50 per 20 Oz bottle, 1-1 1/bottles per day, I was spending way too much. Within 5 minutes of setting Sodastream up, I had made 3 liters of Diet Dr Pete from tap water! No electricity, just pump CO2 in, add flavor, and enjoy. This will pay for itself very quickly and cut way down on plastic waste!

This is a really great invention. I could spend all day telling you about all the flavors and uses but sufice to say this thing works great. The biggest question I had was cost. I used to spend about a dollar a bottle on club soda/seltzer. With the Soda Stream, and my math, I’m spending about fifty cents for the same amount. I make as much or as little as I want (follow the instructions for the bottle size). I keep the bottles in the fridge and carbonate them as needed. I learned from experience that you ALWAYS add your flavorings AFTER the water is carbonated. I’m not a fan of the Bubbly things that come in the box. My favorite flavor is MIO Black Cherry Energy (ANY of their flavors work great). There is one flavor I cannot seem to find (sugar free, of course): LEMONAIDE. It’s the unicorn of water enhancers. I have no idea why the manufacturers haven’t figured this one out. Lemonaide flavoring is so good when you can find it. Soda Stream also has a tank exchange program where when they send you two new tanks (bottles? cartridges?) they send you a box/instructions/etc to return two empty ones. If you’ve ever worked in an office with a printer toner exchange you know exactly how convenient this service is. I can’t wait to see what this company can do next.

This SodaStream version was easy to set up and it’s easy to use. It requires no power source. I’ve had it only a little over a month so I’m not sure yet how often the cartridge will need to be replaced and how much that’s going to cost. Also, my family who bought it for me included so many Bubly drops that I’ll probably never need more. Anyway, it’s easy to use and cheaper than buying cans of soda water. I’m doing much better at staying hydrated. And the other night we had guests for dinner and several of us enjoyed just having plain bubbly water with the meal.

I’ve wanted to stop drinking beer at home for quite some time but I’ve never really found the motivation to do so. I’ve had this just under two months now and I’ve been drinking between 3 and 5 Liters per day. if you push the button five times for about a half second each this far exceeds any level of carbonation in topo Chico. we also take a significant amount of vitamins in our house. I probably take close to 30 per day. swallowing pills becomes almost a chore when you’re taking this many and some tend to get stuck in the throat. when I use this soda water for taking my pills I can throw a handful of between five and 10 in my mouth at a time and something happens with the carbonation tickling the back of the throat making it exceptionally easy to swallow pills in bulk. kind of a accidental nice side effect of the carbonated water. I have fairly sensitive taste buds and I did not notice even one remote flavor or water texture difference between standard reverse osmosis filtered water and Topo Chico. The way this thing is configured, it could not be a more simple device to use. The large mouth bottles that come with it necked effortlessly in less than 2 seconds and within 5 seconds you have fully carbonated water. it’s almost ridiculous how easy it is. getting back to this helping me to stop drinking beer. I won’t go into details but some people might say that I drank too much beer nightly in the home. I find that right around sunset is when my body usually tells me I’ve worked my butt off today and I deserve a beer. The craving is not quite overwhelming but it is quite substantial. in my mind I raced to find any excuse why I deserve to have a beer… so I try to quickly grab one of the prepared bottles out of the refrigerator and take a quick medium sized gulp. within seconds the craving for beer disappears. something tells me it is the heavy, hard-hitting carbonation that you can really put into this water that pinches the back of the throat satisfying that craving for that first drink of carbonated ice cold beer. My cravings are becoming less and less after almost 2 months of this pattern. in just under two months this SodaStream has prevented me from drinking over 245 beers according to my stop drinking app on my cell phone. from a health standpoint, obviously that is significant but from a financial standpoint as well of course.
with drinking between 3 and 5 of these liters per day I do find myself going through the CO2 cartridges quite quickly. a simple YouTube search produced many different workarounds for that expense since CO2 tank swaps here in Houston Texas at any grocery store, Target or bed bath & beyond run $15 US. our grocery stores sell food grade dry ice at just$2 per pound. there’s a very simple process where you purchase 1.5 lb of dry ice, put it inside too separate 1 gallon Ziploc bags and smash it really really well with a meat hammer. I use the flat side of my meat tenderizer hammer and it works exceptionally well. it turns it basically into powder. I removed the brass top of the CO2 tank using a crescent wrench when it was empty, insert a clean funnel and dump the dry ice powder down inside. I use a stainless steel tervis straw to help the dry ice go down into the funnel when it sometimes gets clogged up at the neck of the funnel a little bit. makes it very easy. I put the entire canister with funnel on top of a digital gram scale and zero it out before starting to fill. once it hits 14.5 oz or I believe the other weight and measure on the CO2 tank says 410 g of CO2 if I remember correctly. I overfill it by 2 g because by the time you grab for the brass threaded screw cap and get it on you will have lost about two grams of the dry ice which is CO2. I find that by buying 1.5 lb of dry ice usually I’m left with about 4 oz remaining after this operation is done. I’m waiting on my newest revision to this which will make the process much more easy though. I purchased an aluminum 20 lb CO2 tank off of Amazon delivered for about $210. then purchased a brass adapter that screws directly into the CO2 tank and then the unmolested SodaStream CO2 bottle will fit and screw directly into that fitting. this allows you to directly fill the SodaStream CO2 tank off of your larger 20 lb tank. do a lot of YouTube searches for this process cuz there’s plenty available and you’ll see how easy it is. obviously use caution because you are dealing with pressurized liquids and carbon dioxide which can be deadly in large quantities if it’s in a confined area. I will be storing my 20 lb CO2 tank in my laundry room where we have redundant CO2 and explosive gas detectors already. in Houston we are able to fill the 20 lb tank at a place called airgas on Hempstead highway. I believe there are other air gas stores throughout the state and city. there is a nominal difference between food grade and industrial grade CO2. I will be purchasing food grade CO2 from airgas which I believe is only 0.5% more pure but I definitely don’t want any unnecessary chemicals in my water… or in my tanks. they told me they are able to fill a 20 lb tank up to the 18 lb level and that would cost $47. that should produce very close to 20 SodaStream cartridges full of CO2 which will put it around $2.40 per fill I believe

I don’t have many vices in life, but I do enjoy my 1 Pepsi each day. I’ve been struggling with health issues and was wanting to find a better way to hydrate. I get really bad heartburn and nausea when I drink water. It’s rather weird I know, but my body after my surgeries has become extremely sensitive. So I thought I’d give this a try especially with Prime Days discount cutting the price in half.
I’m so thankful that I did! I’m able to put less syrup in, 3/4 of the cap seems to be perfect along with 7 pumps of fizzes. I’m able to drink more fluids now because of this. I did try the flavors that came with the machine. They don’t have any sugar in them, just a flavor adding. It’s not my favorite, but if you like flavored water then you’ll enjoy it. I want to get a few more bottles and flavors as now my family wants to drink them now to lol. Oh, also I’m no longer drinking a none reusable bottle everyday. Which is a plus to also limiting my sugar intake. Maybe I’ll try one of the less sugary substitutes to! The possibilities are endless!! Oh, just make sure when you put your syrup in to pour it in with your bottle slightly angled, like you would with a beer. No messes here! I watched some videos where that was an issue for people.

Like some of the negative reviews, I had some issues with my soda stream. It worked great and then all of the sudden the machine wasn’t gripping the bottle great and the carbonation was exploding out when the button was pressed. Tried to get support from sodastream but it is a ridiculous process. I was about to throw it out when I decided to try it again, and it worked! I had no clue how I “fixed it” at first. I tried all of my bottles to see if it worked on all of them. It worked on 2 out of 3 bottles. From there, I compared the bottles. I’m thinking from the dishwasher or from dropping it, the neck of one bottle got warped and so it was not able to be firmly grasped in the sodastream.
If you are having issues, check your bottles and see if they have been warped, turn them upside down to see if they will balance on a counter top or lean and fall over. This could be one issue unknown to a lot of people. Time will tell if I come across issues with good bottles, but for now, I am happy!
